Perhaps more than anything else, watermelon reminds me of summertime. Refreshing and light, colorful watermelon fruit-shaped doormats certainly might be my favorite new way to welcome summer. Why not paint yourself a front or back doormat for the season… or you can put this in your kitchen. It adds a nice pop of color to the front or back door.
I had actually seen a doormat like this at a craft fair years ago when I was visiting my sister in Boston. As it was expensive, I did not purchase one, but every time I start decorating for summer, I would find myself wishing I’d bought it. Last month when this DIY idea showed up in my Pinterest feed, I was so excited I had to call my sister immediately. I now have the most adorable watermelon mat and she will be getting one for her birthday. This doormat gets many compliments, but it also brings a smile to my face whenever I go in or out of the house.
This is an easy way to brighten things up around your home. This would be a nice housewarming gift for a friend or family member. I can’t imagine anyone not loving it!
