This fun and colorful project idea by SewVeryEasy on YouTube is so easy to do and requires only a few simple sewing supplies. This has also now become one of my all-time favorite sewing projects to make because not only is it beginner-friendly but also very quick to put together and you can finish this in only about an hour or less! You should try this and you’ll enjoy making this for sure.
Step 1
Fuse the background fabric on the rough side of the foam stabilizer, then sew them together all the way around the sides, and trim off all the excess fabric on the sides. Prepare 29 strips of fabric at 2½ inches thick and about 19 inches long, then divide them into two identical sets, and set them aside. Fold the foam in half crosswise, then find the midpoint on each side, and mark them. Open the foam, then lay the different color strips with no pair at the center matching the midpoint marks, and pin them in place.

Step 2
Lay a strip of fabric on top of the center strip with their right sides facing each other, then sew them on one side with a ½ inch seam allowance, and then finger press the fabric open. Continue laying and sewing fabric strip after the other until you’ve reached the end, then once you’ve covered one side, turn it over, and start working on the other side using the same steps as you did earlier. Once you’ve sewn all of the strips onto the foam, trim off all the edges nicely until the sides are straight and even, then sew together different colors of fabric strips, and use them to bind the edges of the rug.
