These beautiful fabric butterflies by Moth Art on YouTube are not just your usual sewing project because these are fragrant because of dried lavender flower filling. This is a great gift idea and a product that you can make and sell. What’s even better is that you don’t need a sewing machine for this because you can make this by hand!
Step 1
Cut 2 triangle papers with sizes 10cm x 5.5cm (3.9″ x 2.1″) and 8cm x 5cm (3.1″ x 1.9″), then curve the corners using a bottle cap, and cut them out. Fold both fabrics in half with their right sides facing, then place the smaller rectangle template on top of the solid colored fabric, and trace the shape. Mark about 2 inches of a gap on top of the marked line for the opening, and pin the fabric together in place, then repeat the same process with the patterned fabric and the larger rectangle template. Sew around the marked lines either by hand or with a machine, then trim around the excess fabric leaving only about ¼” seam allowance, and turn it right side out poking the corners nicely.

Step 2
Tuck the seams of the opening nicely, then give it a nice press, and start filling the pouches with dried lavender flowers. Make sure not to overfill the pouches and that it has enough room to be shaped later, then sew the gap close, and set them aside. Insert 3 beads on a jute twine, then stretch and lay it straight at the surface vertically, and place the pouches on top of the twine horizontally. Make sure to place the smaller pouch at the bottom of the larger pouch and they are centered nicely, then pull one long tail of the twine over the pouches, and pull it tightly until it looks like a butterfly. Tie the jute twine securely after looping it over a few more times, then make sure to position the beads along the center of the pouches, and make about 2 inches of the antenna at the top of the larger pouch by looping and tying the ends before cutting the twine.
