Here’s a fun quilting project that is sure to keep you busy and entertained for the week! This Hexi honeycomb by Shabby Fabrics on YouTube sure is something you would love making. At first glance, you’d think that this may be complicated to do, but it’s not. This detailed tutorial will show you how to make this beautiful quilt easily and quickly.
Step 1
If you are not using precut Hexi pieces, then create one on hard paper, and cut the fabric into the same shape adding about ¼-inch seam allowance around. Next, place the paper in the center, apply some glue, then fold the edges over, and give it a good press. Carefully remove the paper at the center, then fold the edges back down, and press it again. Create more Hexi pieces using the same process. Now create your background fabric by cutting it into a square.

Step 2
Next, fold your background fabric into four to find the center point, then open the fabric, and place 1 Hexi piece at the center. Apply some basting glue around the wrong side of the Hexi and attach it to the center, then press it. Build the Hexi honeycomb around the centerpiece doing the same process of gluing and pressing as the center Hexi piece. Sew the Hexi pieces together with a ¼-inch seam allowance starting around the center, then track down one lane, and sew all the way around the outer areas until you reach the center once again.
