Materials:

  • Bay leaves
  • Garlic or cayenne powder
  • Lemon
  • Vinegar with peppermint oil
  • Neem oil
  • Soap solution
  • Catnip

Directions:

1.) Bay leaves

Cockroaches are repulsed by the smell of bay leaves. Try tucking a few leaves or leave a clump in those hard-to-clean- places. This is a nice and natural method that you can use to send roaches away, but this also takes a lot of patience.

2.) Garlic or cayenne powder

You can also use the strong odors or garlic or onion powder to repel cockroaches. Sprinkle it in the areas where you usually find the cockroaches. Mixing two together is even better as this can make a stronger pungent repellant.

3.) Lemon

Cut a lemon in half and squeeze it directly over the surfaces often visited by cockroaches. You can also mix some lemon juice with water in a spray bottle. Aside from effectively repelling these pests, your kitchen will smell amazing too.

4.) Vinegar with peppermint oil

Just fill a medium-sized spray bottle with mostly vinegar, and add enough drops of peppermint essential oil so that you can smell it. Give it a shake and get to spraying. Target your kitchen and bathroom, making sure to get the corners of your floors sprayed including all the nooks and crannies.

5.) Neem oil

Neem oil keeps away a lot of insects and pests because it contains a certain chemical that’s poisonous to them. It’s found in many sprays and lotions, but pure neem oil will really do the trick. You can mix it with water in a spray solution, or just sprinkle the powder on the areas directly.

6.) Soap solution

Find a soap that contains borax as it is a natural antiseptic and cleaner that’s used in powdered laundry detergents and disinfecting hand soaps. Mix the soap with a little hot water and spread it thickly on your kitchen counters and near any infestation points.

7.) Catnip

Put some fresh catnip leaves in a sachet, little drawstring bag, or other porous bags. Then, set them around in the places or areas where roaches are usually spotted. Just remember to change out the leaves when needed to keep their potency.
