Do not throw away your old plastic bottles and instead turn them into a chic DIY container! The process is also very easy to follow and the finished product won’t be even recognizable as recycled. It looks as if you ordered it online or bought it at a store. This clever idea is all thanks to Супер Идейка via YouTube!
Step 1
Remove the labels of the plastic bottle and remove all the leftover sticky texture by rubbing it with a wet cloth. Cut and remove the upper curved part of the bottle, then heat the raw edges on the bottom of a cloth iron. Cut cardboard with a length that’s enough to cover around the bottle and with a width of about 4 inches, apply a strip of double-sided tape at the bottom, middle and top. Attach it at the bottom of the bottle, then attach it to cardboard and cut out the excess on the bottom.
To create the lid, flip the bottle and place the rim on top of the cardboard, then trace around it, and cut it out. Then, cut a 2-inch thick cardboard strip, attach it around the edges of the round cardboard, cut the excess, and secure the ends together with the hot glue. Next, you can either crochet the jute twine or simply braid it and set it aside. Proceed to paint the areas of the bottle covered with cardboard with brown acrylic paint using a sponge. Do this on the lid as well.

Step 2
Drizzle the cardboard bottom of the bottle with lots of hot glue, then place sackcloth on top, and cut the excess around it, leaving only about half an inch seam allowance. Make notches around then fold it down and secure with hot glue, attach the braided twine starting from the bottom edge and continue around until you’ve reached the top edge of the cardboard.
Do the same process to the lid as well. Then, attach a wooden ring at the top and center of the lid, secure the ring by inserting a leather strip over it, and secure it with hot glue. Cut the pointy edges of thumbtacks by half insert it onto both ends of the leather strip and secure it with hot glue as well.
