Materials:

  • 2 pcs Fabric
  • 1 pc Fusible batting
  • 1 pc Gold fabric
  • Cardboard
  • Elastic string
  • A pair of scissors
  • Ruler
  • Sharpie

Directions:

Step 1

Make a circle pattern on a cardboard with a 4 inches or 11½cm diameter. Draw a 4.5cm line at the top and another parallel a little bit above it than square the pattern. Draw another pattern on the cardboard about 3.8cm long by 5.7cm wide. Cut off the pieces and set them aside. Cut a square pattern about 5 inches in size. Place the round pattern on top of it and trace with a sharpie.

Step 2

Cut 3 squares from 2 different fabrics and 1 from a fusible batting. Take the gold fabric and cut 2 pieces using the 3.8cm x 5.7cm pattern for the top of the ornament, then cut the elastic string about 2½ inches long. With the glue side of the batting facing up, place 1 fabric on top of it with the wrong side facing the glue, press it with iron, then trace the round pattern on the back of the batting.

Step 3

Fold the 2 small pieces in half and insert a looped elastic string in the middle crease, sew it in place before placing the other piece of small fabric on top, sew around with a ¼ seam allowance, turn it inside out then set aside. Make notches on top of the batting and insert the sewed top piece, clip or pin it in place before stitching. Place another square fabric on top of the first fabric with the right sides facing each other. Start stitching around the traced pattern, then cut the fabric with a ¼ seam allowance from the trace. Push the fabric through the opening and flip it inside out. Give it a quick press then sew the opening using a single thread.
