I am obsessing over these vases for summer. Talk about the perfect summertime DIY. Nothing says warm weather like seashells, and this DIY from AIRINS CRAFT uses lots of shells. It took very little time to make, and the materials were very easy to get access to. You likely already have most of the materials at home. Be prepared, once you make one, it’s hard to stop. The possibilities for these vases are endless.

Directions:

Step One

Crush up some seashells into a bowl. Make sure to set about 20 wheels to the side to use later for decor. You will want to crush the shells to almost a sand consistency.

Step Two

Blow up a balloon to your desired size. The size of the balloon will determine the size of your vase. The bigger the balloon is, the larger the vase will be.

Step Three

Use a lid or something round to draw a circle around your balloon to determine the height and width of the vase. This will be the way to create an opening in the vase.

Step Four

In the area under your circle, cover the balloon in glue, then use a paintbrush to smooth the glue out.

Step Five

Cover the glue in your crushed shells. Repeat this process of adding glue then shells until your vase reaches your desired thickness level. Let the shells dry before moving on to the next step.

Step Six

Finally, pop the balloon then glue on the larger shells as you’d like for added decoration. The balloon might stick a bit, so work slowly when removing it from the inside of the vase. You can also spray paint the vase if you’d like.
