#1 Mopping

When mopping, make sure to drain the excess water from the mop but don’t make it too dry also. Then start from one corner and start moving the mop in an “S” pattern and walk straight backward.

#2 Glass Cleaning

To get a sparkling clean glass, spray the solution on the microfiber cloth first, then wipe the glass starting from left to right and coming down in an “S” pattern.

#3 Disinfecting the Surface

Remember, the cleaning solution just cleans the surfaces but disinfectants kill germs and bacteria. If you’re using any disinfectant spray for countertops, it should always be used after cleaning. And when you spray it, leave it for 10 minutes for effective results. It should also air-dry on its own.

#4 Cleaning the Floor

When cleaning the floors with disinfectant, let it air-dry so that it can kill all the germs present on the floor.

#5 Not Cleaning Upholstery

When dusting, don’t forget to dust the upholstery such as the couch, chairs, and headboards.

#6 Not Replacing the Mop

When your mop head starts to fall out, it’s time to replace it with a new mop head.

#7 Using Vinegar to Clean Everything

Don’t use vinegar to clean surfaces that it can potentially damage. Vinegar is acidic and it can dull the polished surface of natural stone. It can also damage and dull some wood finishes.

#8 Leaving Wet Toilet Brush

Placing the toilet brush while it’s still wet keeps the brush moist longer and allows bacteria to grow. After cleaning the toilet, rinse your brush with fresh water. Place the brush under the toilet lid and pour some disinfectant into the brush. Let it sit there til it’s dry.

#9 Single Cloth for the Entire House

Do you use one cloth to clean the entire room? If you’re cleaning all the surfaces with the same cloth, you’re cross-contaminating your entire home. When you wipe the surface, the dirt transfer to the cloth, then right on the next surface you wipe. This is not good, especially in the kitchen or bathroom. An easy fix is to use a different cloth for different applications and color code them.

#10 Cleaning Without Making the Bed

When you sweep or mop, it’s important to make the bed or couch first. Dust or dirt on the bed or couch will make the floor dirty again and your cleaning job doubles up.
