Ingredients:

  • 1/2 red bell pepper (finely diced)
  • 1 medium onion (1 cup, finely diced)
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (divided)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 & 1/2 tsp old bay seasoning or 1 tsp cajun
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lb lump crab meat
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cups parsley (finely chopped)

For the dipping sauce (lemon aioli):

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove

Directions:

Step 1

Start by preparing the veggies. Next, in a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add your finely diced onion and bell pepper. Saute them for about 7 to 9 minutes. Once they’re done, set them aside and let them cool. Next, in a large mixing bowl, crack 2 large eggs, then add 3 tbsp of mayo, 1 tsp of Worcestershire sauce, 1 & 1/2 tsp of old bay seasoning, 1 tsp of garlic salt, and 1/2 tsp of black pepper. Mix together well to combine. After this, add 1 lb of crab meat into the mixture. Now, add 1/2 cup of panko breadcrumbs along with your sauteed veggies. Add 1/4 cup of finely chopped fresh parsley. Mix everything well. After this, cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate that for at least 30 minutes. Once the mixture is cooled, take it out of the refrigerator. Use a trigger-release ice cream scoop and scoop out the crab mixture onto a large cookie sheet, then form the crab cakes with wet hands.

Once they’re done, transfer them to a large serving platter. Next, for the dipping sauce, in a bowl, add 1/2 cup of mayo followed by 1 tsp of lemon zest, 2 tbsp lemon juice, and 1 crushed garlic clove. Stir it all together.
