Dinner rolls are perfect and can be served any way you like, you can use any filling that you want, and pair them with your favorite beverage. Personally, I love dinner rolls because they are simple but flavorful, and they are pretty easy to prepare. One of my all-time favorite recipes to follow is this one by The Hillbilly Kitchen – Down Home Country Cooking on YouTube, this version is very easy to follow, and you can make it a little special, too, by adding a delicious honey butter topping.

Ingredients:

  • 3-3½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 2¼ tsp or 1 packet of yeast
  • 2 tbsp to ½ cup of sugar
  • 4 tbsp of butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 eggs

Optional topping

  • Butter
  • Honey

Directions:

Step 1

Before anything else, make sure that you’re milk is warm enough. Add the butter to the milk, then scoop up a bit of flour, and add it to the milk mixture. Stir them together while gradually adding the yeast to combine, then set it aside, and let the yeast mixture sit for about 5 minutes or longer. Add the salt to the flour and lightly mix, then once the yeast is starting to foam up, add the beaten eggs, and mix them together. Create a hollow center on the flour mixture, then pour in the yeast mixture, and mix them together until it forms a ball and it starts pulling away from the sides, you can also mix them with a handheld mixer for about 5 minutes over medium-low speed. Flour the counter or work surface with some flour, then transfer the dough, and knead it until smooth.

Step 2

Cover the dough with oil or butter before placing it in a bowl, then cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size. Flour your hands, then press, fold, and knead the dough well until smooth, and divide it into 12 rolls evenly. Grease a baking sheet or 9×13 inches baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or butter, then place the dough rolls on the dish and let them sit for another hour to rise until double in size. Put them in the preheated oven, then let them bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes until the top is golden brown, and the rolls are cooked through. Once done baking and still hot, you can mix together some honey and butter, then brush it all over the top of the rolls, and let them rest for about 5 minutes before you unmold them. Serve and enjoy!
