You probably had this candy whenever you went to coastal towns. Now, you can recreate it at home with this simple recipe. Taffy is made by heating the ingredients together until the mixture reaches the right temperature. Once it is cooled, it is stretched or pulled over and over until it becomes opaque. The steps are very simple and not as complicated as you think. Give this recipe a try – I am sure you will love it.

In a large pot, add the sugar, and sift the cornstarch. Whisk until well combined. Add the butter, corn syrup, salt, water, vanilla, and flavor extract of choice. Whisk well. Turn the heat to medium and let the mixture cook until the candy thermometer reads 250F.
Stir in the food coloring.
Transfer the candy into a greased heatproof dish. Let it cool until cool enough to handle for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Get the mixture and stretch it out tp 12 inches. Fold it over and over for about 10 to 15 minutes. It will turn to opaque as you keep on folding.
Once it becomes harder to pull, form it into about a 30-inch long and 1-inch thick log. Cut it in half then slice into bite-size chunks.
Wrap each one in a square of parchment paper. Twist the ends to seal.
