Easy Present Quilt Block Materials

  • 4 charm packs or 42 pieces of 10″ squares
  • 2 1/2 yards sashing
  • 4 half yards of coordinating fabrics for the bows and ribbons

How to Make a Present Quilt Block

Step 1:

Get four charm packs that are the same. Cut 1 1/2″ strips from the contrasting fabric, then sub-cut into 2 pieces of 5″ strips and 1 piece of 10 1/2″ strip.

Step 2:

Place the 5″ strips in the middle of the top and bottom pair, then sew them in place. Press the seams and top flat. Make sure there are no folds.

Step 3:

Sew the 10 1/2″ strip between the two pairs. Iron the block open. Flip over and press the seams toward the middle.

Step 4:

Take your background fabric. Cut a 4 1/2″ piece and two 3 1/2″ pieces.

Take your contrasting fabric and cut 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ squares. Fold it diagonally in half to make a crease. Place one square on the end of the 4 1/2″ background piece, right sides together, with the diagonal going from the outside into the middle. Sew on the crease line, trim, then press it open. Repeat with the other end. Press it open. Sew the two 3 1/2″ pieces on the sides to make the bow.
