The Holiday season is here, and I couldn’t be happier. Everywhere I look, there are beautiful decorations that instantly put me in a festive mood. I absolutely love the Christmas season, with its gift-giving, delicious food, and quality time spent with loved ones. Those are the things that I always look forward to every year. To celebrate this wonderful time of the year, I decided to make a pennant quilt by Missouri Star.

This pattern is perfect for the season, especially with all the celebrations and parties everywhere. But of course, this design is not only for Christmas. Just change the colors to match any event or Holiday. The steps are very easy to follow and can be made by everyone. To make this project, you will need layer cakes or 10-inch squares and some ric-racs. Why not spend your weekend making this beginner-friendly and fun quilt pattern?

Get one layer cake, and place the wedge ruler. Make sure the long side of the ruler is lined with one of the raw sides of the square. Cut it out and set aside. Place your ruler again, lining it with the edge of the remaining fabric, and cut it out. Now, you have two rectangles. Repeat with your layer cakes and your background fabric.
Get one colored and one background wedge. Arrange them beside each other with the color on the right hand side. Make sure that the color is always on the right. Lay them right sides together, point to point, just like in the photo below. Sew a 1/4″ all the way down on the side. Repeat with your other wedges. Iron them open.
Assemble them in rows. You need 7 pairs for each row. You’re going to sew the pairs together just like what you did with the wedges. You need 6 rows.
Take one background wedge and sew on the colored wedge on the end of the row. Lay the wedge ruler on the background wedge on the end with the dash line on the edge. Cut the end straight. Repeat on the other side. Do the same for all rows.
In between each row, put a 4-inch sashing. After that, add sashing all the way around the outside with the 4-inch sashing.
Sew the ric-rac right along the seams.
