I love cooking any kind of casserole, why I had never thought of making a Hamburger Casserole is beyond me. I saw a recipe for Hamburger Casserole on Youtube and had to try it, after all, I love hamburgers and I also love any kind of casserole so it was an obvious match made in Heaven for me. The recipe couldn’t be easier, first, preheat the oven to 375 degrees then you just pre-cook the hamburger meat in a skillet with some diced onion, and minced garlic, and a half a cup of beef stock, I then removed the meat mixture from the heat and set aside.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. of lean ground beef
- 1 cup of chopped onions
- 4 cups of diced potatoes
- 1 cup of milk
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 4 ounces of Provolone cheese (or any cheese that you prefer)
- 1 teaspoon of corn starch to thicken
- Optional – 1 cup of chopped green bell peppers
Directions:
Add all your ingredients ground beef, onion, and bell pepper, everything except for potatoes cheese and milk to your skillet and cook on medium heat till lightly brown.

Then add potatoes and cook over a low to medium heat for about 15 more minutes with the lid on stirring occasionally.
Then add milk right into the cast iron skillet you are cooking in and stir in evenly. Lay cheese across the top and cook in a 375-degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes. The cheese will be bubbly and will form a delicate crust on top of your 100 year old casserole.
This 1oo year old casserole tastes absolutely delicious and has really stood the test of time in many hillbilly kitchens across The United States Of America.
