Since it’s spring, it is the perfect time to make flower quilt projects. There are a lot of beautiful patterns you can find online. Here are some designs you can try: Sunflower Quilt, and Prairie Flower Quilt. Aside from flowers, it is also the season of butterflies, and here is a beautiful Easy Patchwork Butterfly Quilt that I highly recommend. Don’t you just love nature-inspired projects? Because I do. I appreciate them more, especially in the winter.

The weather is getting warmer, and I can finally enjoy the mountains again. I am not a big fan of the cold weather, that is why spring and summer seasons make me feel so alive. This easy mountain lily quilt by Missouri Star definitely captures that feeling. It is an easy pattern that anyone can try at home. Some of the steps are repetitive, so you will surely memorize the process quickly.
Get a 10″ accent fabric and 10″ background fabric. Place them on top of each other and sew all the way around the edge with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Cut diagonally in both directions, horizontally and vertically. You will get 8 pieces of quarter square triangles. Iron towards the dark side. Make two stacks of the same colors.
Cut one 2 1/2″, two 4 1/2″, two 6 1/2″, and one 8 1/2″ from your print strips. Take 7 pieces of 2 1/2″ white squares.
Take a 2 1/2″ white square and sew it to a 2 1/2″ colored square on one side. Press it open, then sew a 4 1/2″ strip.
Take 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ white squares and draw a diagonal from corner to corner. Place them on two corners of the block beside the white square. Sew directly on the line. Trim off excess and press open.
Sew a 4 1/2″ strip and a 6 1/2″ strip on the sides of the block to make the block bigger. Get another 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ white squares and draw a diagonal line from corner to corner. Place on the corners beside the white triangles and sew directly on the line. Trim excess and press open.
Repeat step 4 with the 6 1/2″ strip and 8 1/2″ strip, then with another two pieces of 2 1/2″ white squares.
Take the pieces from step 1 and sew them just like in the photo below. Trim the block.
