I have been dealing with unhealthy and dry hair for several months, so I researched a natural DIY recipe that I can make at home. While looking, I found this Japanese secret to straightening coarse and frizzy hair through this video by RealFeriel on Youtube. I tried using this for weeks and have seen a lot of improvements. Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of flax seeds
  • 2 glasses (5 1/4 cups) of water
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 2/3 cup of water
  • 1 spoonful of coconut oil

Instructions:

Step 1:

Take a saucepan and add 3 tablespoons of flax seeds and 5 1/4 cups of water.

Step 2:

Place the pan over heat and cook for 10 minutes while stirring occasionally. Let it boil then turn off the heat.

Step 3:

Once done, let it cool for a little bit. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh net. Squeeze it to extract the gel from the flax seeds and transfer it to a bowl. Set it aside.

Step 4:

Take a different pan and put 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, then add 2/3 cup of water. Mix well until there are no more lumps.

Step 5:

Place the pan on heat for 3 minutes while stirring. When it becomes a thick cream, turn off the heat and let it cool. Transfer it to a container. Add 1 spoonful of coconut oil and mix.

Step 6:

Add 6 tablespoons of gel to the cornstarch mixture and mix well. You can put it in a blender or mixer for a smoother mixture.

Step 7:

Apply it to dry hair, then cover it with a cling wrap or shower cap. Cover the plastic with a towel. Leave it for 1 to 2 hours before washing your hair. Do it once a week.
