Instructions

Step 1:

Get the 6 1/2″ fabric A square and rotate it so it looks like a diamond. Place the 2 1/4″ fabric B square on the tip at the top. Then stash it up with the 1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ and 1 3/4″ x 2 1/4″. Next, add the 2 pieces of 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ background rectangles on the sides.

Step 2:

Fill the space on the center on each side with 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ fabric A rectangles then add the 1 1/2″ fabric B squares on the end, followed by 1 1/2″ x 3  1/2″ background strips. Sew the photo below for reference.

Step 3:

Sew them together. Start with the top first to make the square. Next, get the middle fabric A strip and fabric B square. Place the square on one end right sides together, then sew diagonally from corner to corner. Once done, trim off the excess, press it flat, and repeat for the other side. Make sure to check the direction of the diagonals. Once done, sew the end background strips to each side.

Step 5:

Once you have the block, iron it and trim it into a 9 1/2″ by 9 1/2″ square.
