Tassels are great embellishments for throw pillows, curtains, table runners, and bags. I usually create my own because I can’t find the colors I want from the store. I always have fun making this as I mix and match different colors of threads and beads. Learn how to make embroidery thread tassels through this tutorial by RAY – DIY Craft on Youtube.

Materials:

  • 2 pieces of six-strand embroidery thread (26.2 inches each)
  • beads
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • needle

Instructions:

Step 1:

Measure 15.7 inches from the thread and cut it.

Step 2:

Separate the 6 strands into 2, 3 strands each. Hold each with your hands and pull them apart. Now, you have two threads. Set them aside.

Step 3:

Get 1 pack (26.2 inches long) of the embroidery thread. Remove one of the labels. Place the other one in the center. Separate the threads on each of the ends to find the center. Fold and hold it with your hand.

Step 4:

Insert the three-strand thread into the center loops and tie it into a knot.

Step 5:

Remove the label, then take the other label you removed earlier and insert it on the top. Pull the 3-strand to make it easier. Put it just below the top, not in the middle.

Step 6:

Fold 1/3 of the other 3-strand thread to make a loop, place it on the top of the label, then wrap the 2/3 part around tightly until you reach the end.

Step 7:

Insert the end of the thread into the loop, hold it with one hand, then pull the other end with your other hand to secure it in place. Cut the excess thread.

Step 8:

Pull the label just above the bottom end and cut the thread straight.

Step 9:

Insert the bead using a needle, then make a knot to secure it in place. Make another knot on the handle depending on how long you want it to be, then cut the excess.

Step 10:

Remove the label, and you are done.
