I love hearing birds chirping in the morning and seeing them roaming around. It is just peaceful and makes me feel relaxed. They instantly make my mornings better! We have a bird feeder at home, and I always put bird feeds on it. We used to have a ton of visitors every day, but now we only get a few. So, I searched online and found this video by Backyard Birds. Homemade Bird Suet Ingredients

  • one pint beef fat
  • natural creamy pet peanut butter
  • cornmeal
  • white flour
  • quick oats (finely chopped)

How to Make a Bird Suet

Step 1:

In a large stock pot over low heat, add the beef fat and the peanut butter. Continuously stir for 5 minutes until well combined, then turn off the heat.

Step 2:

In a large bowl, add 2 cups of white flour, 4 cups of oatmeal, and 4 cups of cornmeal. Mix all ingredients well.

Step 3:

Add the dry mixture a couple of cups at a time, mixing after every addition. It should have a thick consistency. Let it cool.

Step 4:

Once cooled, you can crumble it into pieces in a bird feeding dish, stuff the suet in a suet log, or you can form it into a ball, flatten it out, and place in a suet basket. You can also sprinkle them in the ground.

To make the suet log, just drill holes in a log, add a hook on one end and hang it.

If you are not going to use them right away, place in a bread sack and store in the fridge.
