Easy Chicken Shawarma Ingredients
For the chicken:
- 2.2 lb of chicken
- 2 tablespoons of yogurt
- 2 tablespoons of garlic paste
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
- 2 teaspoons of shawarma spice blend
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 2 teaspoons of paprika
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
For the pita bread:
- 3 1/3 cups of flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- 1 1/3 cup of water
Tzatziki sauce:
- 1 cup of greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of tahini sauce (optional)
- 1/2 cup of finely chopped cucumber
- 1 clove of garlic (crushed)

How to Make Chicken Shawarma
Step 1:
In a large bowl, add all the seasonings for the chicken in a bowl. Mix until well combined.

Slice the chicken breast in half then score. Add to the mixture and mix until well coated. Cover with a cling wrap and refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours.
Step 3:
Place a pan over heat and add a tablespoon of cooking oil. Add the marinated chicken and cook on medium high heat for about 3 to 5 minutes per side or until tender and brown. Thinly slice the chicken.
