Each puffed pastry is filled with a creamy and delicious chocolate pudding, then topped with a chantilly frosting. You can never go wrong with these little snacks. Once you try one, you will understand why they are so famous in Hawaii.

Making these Hawaii’s coco puffs by Ono Hawaiian Recipes is not as hard as it looks. For the cream puff pastry, you only need 6 basic ingredients – water, butter, flour, eggs, sugar, and salt. It comes together easily. Once they are baked, each cream puff is filled with chocolate pudding, and the top is dipped into the frosting. Eating these yummy treats will surely make you remember all the good times you’ve spent in Hawaii.

In a saucepan, add the water and let it come to a boil. Once boiling, add the butter and mix until melted. Add the sugar, salt, and flour. Mix until it forms into a dough. Transfer to a bowl.
In a separate bowl, add the milk, chocolate pudding and cool whip. Whisk until well combined.
Add the eggs one at a time into the butter mixture, mixing after every addition. Transfer to a piping bag.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Squeeze the mixture into small circles.
Bake in a 375F oven for about 25 to 30minutes.
Make the frosting. In a saucepan, add 2 sticks of butter, evaporated milk, sugar, macadamia nuts, and egg yolks, Mix until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and let it come to a boil. Once boiling, turn off the heat and place in a bowl. Cover with cling wrap and chill for an hour.
Transfer the chocolate filling into a piping bag, Fill each puff with the chocolate filling. Dip the top of the puffs on the frosting. Serve and enjoy!
