Directions:

Step 1

Cut the fabric pieces to size and then start putting together patch A by making 4 half-square triangles corner units. Draw a diagonal line at the back of the light fabric, then lay it on top of the print fabric with their right sides together and edges lined up, and sew on either side of the line with ¼ inch seam allowance. Cut along the marked line, then press the seams open, and cut off the excess fabric poking out the sides.

Step 2

For patch B, stack the rectangles with their wrong sides facing, then cut them together, and then pair 1 cut piece with the yellow triangle with their right sides together and their bottom and sides lined up. Stitch them together, then press them open, and cut off the excess, repeat this with the remaining pieces. For patch C, pair 1 light with the yellow fabric and 1 dark with another yellow fabric, then lay together each pair with their right sides facing, and line the wrong side of the light and dark fabric diagonally.

Step 3

Sew on each side of the line with a ¼ inch seam allowance, then cut along the marked line, and press the seams toward the yellow fabric. Lay 2 blocks together with their right sides facing and make sure that every fabric colors are opposite from each other, then line the wrong side diagonally, and sew on each side. Cut them in half, then press the seams open, and trim off the excess. Assemble the units together according to the diagram, then sew them together, and press them open.

Step 4

For patches E and F, lay the small squares on each corner of the large center square, then sew them together diagonally from corner to corner, and trim off the excess fabric. Press them open nicely, then once all the units are done, assemble them to form the block using the diagram as the guide, and start sewing them per row. Sew the rows together and press the seams open every now and then.
