Have you always loved how fireplaces looked and want to have one but can’t? Then, try making this cardboard version by HGTV Handmade on YouTube instead! It has the same vibe and would look great as decor for your house, plus, they are removable, too. So, if you ever get tired of your faux fireplace, you can just remove it and store it away until you want to use it again.
Step 1
Measure the spot where you want to put the fireplace and how tall you want it to be, then cut a large piece of cardboard to the height of your fireplace, and cut a piece for the base as well. Place the base on the floor right next to the wall, then tape it down securely, and place the large cardboard on top leaning it flatly to the wall. Next, roughly draw the shape of the firebox and where you want it, then remove the cardboard, and fix the drawing of your firebox.

Step 2
Cut out the shape, then cut a few pieces of cardboard to place and fill around the sides, and then adhere them around the sides with tape as shown in the video. Cut a few pieces of cardboard to serve as braces, then cut triangle pieces, and hot glue them in the middle of the braces to make them more sturdy. Tape them around to secure them in place and to hide the rough edges, then create a mantel or shelf for the top of the fireplace, and spray paint them black.
Step 3
Once completely dried, assemble them on the wall, then cut off some 5×2.2 inches of white cardstock with the edges curved, and tape them all over the fireplace in an alternate offset manner to make them look like bricks. Place a fabric above the shelf, then place your Christmas decor, hang some socks as well making sure they’re not too heavy to drag the whole thing down, and lastly, place some decorative jars or gifts inside to serve as a weight.
