Ingredients:

  • 1 piece of onion, minced
  • 2 pieces of potatoes, chopped into tiny pieces
  • 3 cans (6.5 ounces) of minced clam
  • 2 cups of water
  • 8 tbsp of butter
  • ¾ cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 quart of half-and-half cream
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp of parsley flakes
  • 1 piece of sourdough bread

Directions:

Step 1

Chop the onion and potatoes into small pieces, then place a large pot on a stove over medium-high heat, and add the chopped onions and potatoes. Give them a good toss, then let them cook for about 5 minutes before adding the juices of the canned clams, and reserve the clam meat for later. Stir them together, then let them cook for another 5 minutes before removing the pot from the heat, and then set it aside. Place another pot on the stove, then melt the butter, and whisk in the all-purpose flour until fully combined and smooth.

Step 2

Next, slowly pour in the half and half while stirring consistently to combine, then let it cook for about 5 minutes, and then add the vegetables and clam juice mixture into the pot. Mix them together to combine and let it simmer over low heat for about 5 minutes. While waiting for the soup to cook, prepare the bread bowl. Simply cut the top part of a sourdough bread, then scrape off some of the insides to form the bowl, and once the soup is done cooking, pour it into the prepared bread bowl. Serve and enjoy!
