To make this quilt, you only need strips and half-square triangles which are also very easy to do. Just watch this video tutorial by The Melody of Sewing on YouTube to learn how.
Step 1
Cut the 9 squares of each fabric at 4½ inches, then pair the light and dark squares together with their right sides facing, and stitch them all around the edges with an ¼ inch seam allowance.
Step 2
Cut it apart in half diagonally, then rotate, and cut again diagonally in the opposite direction. Cut off the nubs, then press them open, and trim each half-square triangle into 2½ inches.
Step 3
Get 4 half-square triangle units, then assemble them as demonstrated in the video, and stitch them together pressing the seams as you go. Press the block nice and flat, then cut the dark and light fabric into 2½-inch wide strips, and stitch them together before pressing the seams open.

Step 4
Cut them into 6 strips, 2 at 8 inches long, 2 at 5 inches long, and 2 at 2 inches long, then assemble the strips and block units arranging them as shown in the video, and start stitching them per row.
Step 5
Press the seams nicely, then stitch the rows to each other, and finish the table runner by adding the batting, backing, binding, and quilt however you want. The size of the finished quilt is about 40×14 inches.
