Directions:

Step 1

Cut the charm square into 4 squares that are 2½ inches each, then cut the jelly roll strips into 4 pieces that are 4½ x 2½ inches each, and cut a darker jelly roll strip into 4 pieces that are 4½ x 2½ inches each as well. Get the background fabric and cut 8 squares at 2½ inches each and mark the back of all squares diagonally from corner to corner.

Step 2

Take 1 dark square and place it on top of 1 dark rectangle with their right sides together and edges lined up, then stitch right along or slightly beside the marked line, and fold it over. Press it flatly, then trim off the excess 2 layers at the back of the folded part, and repeat the same process with the rest of the dark rectangles.

Step 3

Pair the white square with the light rectangle, then piece them together using the same steps earlier, and once done, stitch the remaining white squares to the opposite side of each light rectangle. Next, lay the light print unit and dark print unit together as shown in the video, and stack them together with their right sides facing and edges lined up.

Step 4

Stitch them together with ¼ inch seam allowance, then finger press the seams toward the darker side, and repeat the same with the rest of the strip units. Now, assemble the pieced units together to form the block as demonstrated in the video and pattern, then sew them together per row, and then stitch the rows to each other. Give them a good press and proceed to make more blocks. Watch the video tutorial to learn how to turn them into a table runner.
