  • Dark print fabric
  • Light print fabric
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Fabric pins
  • Needle and thread
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Sewing machine

Step 1

Cut the dark fabric into 2 squares at 2.5 inches and 1 rectangle at 4.5 x 5.5 inches, then cut the light fabric into 2 rectangles at 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Step 2

Place a dark square on a flat surface, then place a light rectangle next to it horizontally, put the other dark square below the right side of the rectangle, and then place the remaining light rectangle on the space horizontally.

Step 3

Stitch them by pair, then press them open, and stitch the pairs to each other. Make a mark in the middle at the 2¾-inch point, then cut the seam almost to the stitching line, and press the seams in opposite directions.

Step 4

Align the ruler from the corner to the sewing intersection, then draw a line, and repeat on the other side. Place the dark rectangle piece on top with their right sides facing, then stitch along the marked lines, and cut at ¼ inch from the seam line. Press them open and you’re done!
