Every quilter was once a beginner, and just like me, you might not know where to begin or which project to start with. In that case, you should always opt for something easy and simple to let your hands get the hang of the process. One of my favorite projects to make are those that use only strips or squares, just like this quilt idea by easy sewing on YouTube.

You can make this quilt block in just a few simple steps and it’s pretty repetitive so you don’t have to worry about not getting it right. There are also different assembly options that you can choose from and you can be as creative as you want with the colors of fabrics and the design as you want. The scrappier the better your quilt block will look in the end. Learn how now by watching the video tutorial below.
Step 1
Cut 2 dark fabric strips at 2.5″x12″, then 8 medium fabric strips at 2″x12″, and 8 light fabric strips at 2.5″x12″. Get 2 light strips and 2 medium strips, then arrange them alternately and vertically, place a dark strip at the end, and repeat alternating 2 light strips and 2 medium strips as shown in the video.
Step 2
Stitch them together one at a time, then press the block nicely, and make an identical block with the remaining strips. Stack the blocks with their right sides facing and the strips going in opposite directions, then pin them in place and stitch on all sides.
Step 3
Line them diagonally in both directions, then cut along those lines, press the seams nicely, and square them as needed. Arrange the blocks however you want, then stitch them together, and give them a good press.
