How to Make the Ultimate Log Cabin Quilt

This quilt project idea by Jordan Fabrics on YouTube is so fun and satisfying to make, this is surely going to be one of your favorite quilts for sure! What I love about this project, even more, is that there are a lot of ways that you can assemble the blocks and choose your own pattern, guaranteed whatever layout you decide on will still look incredibly lovely. Materials:
- 18 dark fat quarters
- 12 light fat quarters
- 5/8 yard of border fabric #1
- 7/8 yard of border fabric #2
- 1½ yards of border fabric #3
- 7/8 yard of binding fabric
- 7 2/3 yards of backing fabric
- Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
- Ruler
- Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
- Needle and thread
- Iron, for pressing
- Sewing machine

Directions:
Step 1
Pick the fabrics that you want to use, then iron them flatly, and cut them to size. Choose the fabric pieces that you want for the center squares and cut them to size, then continue to cut the rest of the dark print fabrics, and stack them nicely. Take one from each stack but make sure that it’s a different print from each other, then set the rest of the stacks aside, and assemble the pieces that you picked as shown in the video and the pattern.

Step 2
Start stitching them from the center one at a time, then work your way around adding the rest of the fabric until the block is complete, and make sure to press them open with your fingers every now and then. Once done, iron the block flatly, then continue to make more blocks, and lay them out however you want. Once content with how the blocks are assembled, start sewing them together, then add the borders, binding, and backing. Lastly, quilt the whole piece however you want and you’re done!
