Almost every household has a nail clipper or two, and you may think that clipping nails are their only use, but you’ll be surprised when you watch this video tutorial by Andrea Jean Cleaning on YouTube because there are more ways to use nail clippers than you know. Once you’ve learned these hacks, you might even want to keep a nail clipper close to you at all times so that you can easily get them when you need them.
Plastic-Sealed Containers
You can use the file with the pointy tip of the nail clipper to punch a hole through the seal, then tear it down, and peel it right off. You can use this for jar or bottle seals as well.
Sticker, Label, Tape, or Lint Roller
Using the file of the nail clipper, you can pick the sticker or label and peel it right off. If you can’t separate or find where the lint roller’s tape ends or any normal tape, then use the file to pick it up. If you don’t have scissors to cut your tape, use the nail clipper to slightly clip the edge of the tape, and tear the tape right off.

Candle and Screws
If the wick of your candle has gone limp or is stuck down the candle itself, then use the nail clipper file to pick it right up. You can also use the nail clipper to trim off a candle wick that is too long. Use the file to tighten some loose screws or loosen screws if you don’t have a screwdriver available.
Flowers, Oranges, Letters, and Frayed Threads
Trim the excess leaves on your flowers easily using a nail clipper. For no-mess peeling, push the nail clipper file down the center, then proceed to peel the skin of your orange. Use the nail clipper file to tear open your mail, too. You can also use nail clippers to clip off any frayed threads on your towels or any fabric.
Mess-Free Nail Clipping Hack
Place small pieces of tape on each side of your nail clipper making sure they are covered, then proceed to trim your nails, and peel the tape right off before throwing it in the trash. The tape at the sides will help gather the nails you’ve chipped so they don’t scatter on the floor.
Bonus: How to Clean your Nail Clippers
Press the nail clippers until the upper handle releases from the base, then remove it completely, and soak them in a container or bowl filled with cleaning vinegar. Use a toothpick to scrape clean the inside of the nail clipper and other crevices. Wipe the inside clean with paper towels, then pat them dry, and re-assemble.
