Materials for Fresh Flowers Quilt:

  • 23 fat quarters, for the star blocks
  • ½ yard of print fabric, for the star centers
  • 3-1/8 yards of background print, including the sashing and inner board
  • 1 yard of fabric, for the outer border
  • ¾ yard of binding fabric
  • 5 yards of backing fabric
  • Marking pen, pencil, or chalk
  • Ruler
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Fabric pins
  • Needle and thread
  • Iron, for pressing
  • Sewing machine

How to Make Fresh Flowers Quilt:

Step 1

Download the pattern, then cut the fabrics to size, and start making the inner flying geese units. Lay the print rectangle, then place a square on each end, and stitch them diagonally from corner to corner. Trim off the excess and press them open, then repeat the same steps for the remaining pieces.

Step 2

Make the outer flying geese units using the same steps but with the background rectangles and dark print squares. Piece the corner units together, then arrange everything as instructed in the pattern, and start stitching them together pressing the seams as you go.
