I’ve always been in awe of curved quilt blocks or those that have fun shapes or illusion patterns. They just seem so fun and exciting to make, and I love the process of appliqueing patterns on fabric. One of the most recent quilt projects that I’ve done is this one by Dclutter Quilting on YouTube.

This flower Dresden plate block has a simple and pretty pattern which you would think is very hard to make at first glance, but you would be surprised to learn that this is super easy and beginner-friendly. Go ahead and watch the video tutorial below to see for yourself.
Step 1
Download the pattern and print the template, then roughly cut outside the lines, and layer the fabrics A and B together with their right sides facing down. Apply washable glue to the back of the template and lay it on top of the strips, then cut on the lines to create the wedges, and mark the top of each wedge using the curved marking template.
Step 2
Layer the interfacing to the right side of the wedge at the top and sew on the marked line, then trim to a 1/8″ or using pinking shears, and clip into the corner at the end of the curve. Turn it right side out, then press the curve, and sew each wedge together on the sides to form the circle.
Step 3
Press the seams open, then sew the interfacing to the circle on the right side of the fabric, and trim to 1/8′. Cut a slit in the interfacing and turn the circle right side out, and press the circle nicely. Applique the circle on the wedges, then lay the Dresden to the center of the background, and applique it, then square it to the desired size.
