Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds (800 grams) Beef
  • 3 Carrots
  • 2-3 Potatoes
  • 2 Onions
  • ½ cup Peas
  • Thyme, fresh (preferred) or dry
  • Parsley, fresh
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic
  • 2-3 Bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 cup Red wine
  • 1-2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 2 cups Beef stock/broth or 2 cups of water and 2 cubes of beef stock
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • ½ cup (120 grams) Flour

Directions:

Step 1

Wash the beef well and pat dry, then cut the meat into bite-sized chunks. After cutting the meat, dust it with half portion of the flour, toss and coat it well, then set aside. Dice the onion and mince the garlic, then set aside. Drizzle your Dutch oven with some cooking oil, then sear the beef until brown. Once the meat is done cooking, remove it from the pot and transfer it to a plate. In the same pot, add in the onions and cook for about 5 minutes until translucent, then add the garlic. Add the remaining portion of the flour, then add in the tomato paste, and give it a good stir.

Step 2

Gradually add the red wine and stir it well until nothing is sticking at the bottom of the Dutch oven. Then, put the beef back and mix it until well combined. Add the bay leaves and smoked paprika, then pour the water and beef stock cubes or just use beef stock (preferred). Add in the thyme, parsley, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce, then bring it to a simmer uncovered for about 45 to 50 minutes. Add the chopped carrots and potatoes before placing the lid on, then cook it in a preheated oven at 200°C/380°F for another 45 to 50 minutes. Add the peas and cook for another 10 to 15 minutes.
