Create this cute ghost quilt using fabric scraps and add it to your decoration this Halloween! This super easy block quilt tutorial is so simple and quick to make that even beginners would look like experts. Watch this video tutorial by Sassafras Lane Designs on YouTube and learn how now.
Step 1
Cut the assorted fabric scraps into 40 pieces of 1½ x 1½” squares, 5 pieces of 1⅞ X 1⅞” squares, and 2 pieces of 1 x 1½” rectangles. Cut the background fabric into 2 pieces of 1½ x 1½” squares, 5 pieces of 1⅞ x 1⅞” squares, 2 pieces of 2½ x 9½” rectangles, and 2 pieces of 2½ x 10½” rectangles. Lastly, cut 2 pieces of black fabric into 1 x 1½ rectangles. Now, grab the 1⅞” squares to make half-square triangles, mark a line diagonally across the wrong side of each square, then lay the background square and scrap square with their right sides together, and sew a ¼-inch seam on each side of the line at the center. Cut the along the line and open the fabric up, then repeat with all the 1⅞-inch squares to yield half-square triangles.

Step 2
Next, sew the black 1 x 1½” rectangles to the 1 x 1½” scrap rectangles, then arrange the squares into a ghost shape as shown in the video, and start sewing. Sew the squares into rows first, then iron the seams into opposite directions, and sew the rows together before pressing the seams open. Sew the 2½ x 9½” rectangles to each side of the block, then iron toward the background, sew the 2½ x 10½” rectangles to the top and bottom, and iron toward the background as well. Once done with the block, quilt, then bind, and use in whatever project your desire.
