An easy quilting project, this bow tie quilt block from Cut and Create on Youtube is a great pattern if you would make a baby quilt or a lap quilt. It’s also perfect for beginners as it is super easy to do, and you can make this with fat quarters. Learn the step-by-step instructions by watching the video tutorial below.

Materials:

  • 2 bundles of fat quarters
  • rotary cutter
  • ruler

Directions:

Step 1

For the first fat quarter bundle, cut 2 pcs. 5″ squares for fabric A, 2 pcs. 5″ squares for fabric B, and 4 pcs. 2 & 1/2″ squares for fabric C. For the second bundle, cut 2 pcs. 5″ squares for fabric A, 2 pcs. 5″ squares for fabric B, and 4 pcs. 2 & 1/2″ squares for fabric C. To start, take your 2 pcs. 2 & 1/2″ squares and draw a line down from corner to corner. After this, line them up on the corners of your 5″ square blocks and sew from corner to corner. Cut a quarter inch from each stitch line, then iron them open. Now, line them up opposite and sew them all together.

Step 2

After you dew them, iron both blocks to smoothen them out. Your bow tie blocks are now finished. This would make a beautiful baby quilt, a lap quilt, or anything you would like.
