As mentioned, you will need 5-inch squares of precut fabric or charm packs to make this easy star pattern. By making this block, you will learn how to snowball the corners of the strips. A lot of Jenny Doan’s pattern uses this technique. It’s very simple to follow, I promise. If you are still a beginner, go ahead and try this pattern at home. I’m sure you’ll have fun making it.

Get 2 pieces of 5″ squares. Set one aside then cut the other one into 4 pieces of 2 1/2″ squares by cutting in the middle horizontally and vertically. Set the 2 small squares aside with the 5″ square, then the other for another square later.
Get the 5″ square, 2 pieces of 2 1″2 squares, 5″ background strip, and 7″ background strip. Arrange them just like in the photo below. Do not sew them together yet. Fold the 2 1/2″ squares in half diagonally to make a crease. Place one 2 1/2″ square on one end of the 7″ strip and sew directly on the line. Make sure to follow the direction of the small squares below. Repeat on the 5″ strip. Cut the excess and press them open toward the dark side. Sew the 5″ strip on the 5″ square first, followed by the 7″ strip. Repeat to make 4 pieces of this block.
Sew the four blocks together just like in the photo below.
