Materials:

  • soy wax flakes
  • mini drinking glass (heat safe)
  • candle fragrance oil
  • candle wick
  • candle dye
  • scissors
  • measuring cup and spoon set
  • microwave-safe mixing jug
  • popsicle sticks
  • tape
  • coffee ground
  • whisk
  • hot glue gun with sticks
  • plastic straws

Directions:

Step 1

Add 4 cups of soy wax flakes in a microwave-safe mixing jug. Microwave every 30 seconds until melted or use the double boiler method. (Stir between melting for even heating). After it completely melts, add 4.5 tsp candle fragrance oil, then gently stir for two to four minutes to bind the scent to the wax. Now, glue the wick into the center of the glass cup, and tape popsicle sticks to center the candle wick.

Step 2

Grab three additional empty containers for the candle layers labeled: brown latte (where the candle mixture currently is), white whipped cream, green straw, and maple caramel.  Add some of the candle mixture to each container, with a bit more on the whipped cream container. After this, add a small amount of candle dye chip or crayon shavings on each container with their corresponding color. Mix well to melt the color dye.

Step 3

Now, slowly pour the brown wax first, filling 2/3 of the cup. Cool down for two to three hours. Next, make the green straw by re-melting the green wax, then bending the plastic straw to avoid spills. Pour the green melted wax into the straw, place it at an angle, then cool it down for one to two hours. For the whipped cream layer, re-melt the white wax for 30 seconds, mash it to soften, then quickly whisk until whipped. Scoop the whipped wax into a piping bag, cut the tip, and pipe the wax side to side from the center of the wick and outwards. (Be sure to cover around the candle wick).

Step 4

After this, sprinkle some coffee grounds over the whipped cream layer, then drizzle the maple wax on top. Lastly, insert a q-tip inside the straw and gently push the candle wax out. Create a hole in the whipped cream with a q-tip, and insert the green wax straw. Cool down at room temperature for 24 hours.
