You’ll only need just a few simple materials and a dash of imagination to make this adorable pin cushion. And with this step by step guide, you’ll be able to to transform felt fabrics and stuffing into a miniature desert oasis that’s as practical as it is adorable. Whether you’re a seasoned DIYer looking for a new project to spark your creativity or a sewing beginner, this tutorial is sure to inspire and delight you.
To start, draw out the succulent shape on the green felt using a marker. (If using two different green felt, you’ll need three on each color.) Using the terra cotta pot, eyeball the size and shape of the succulent. Once done, cut out the pieces. Now, line them up and sew them on the edges using a blanket stitch. Once done, stack them all up, stitching right down the center with a back stitch. After this, fill up the succulent with some polyfill.
This part is optional but if you like put a flower on top, trace a circle shape on the pink and a wavy circle on the yellow felt. Stack and sew them together, then attach it to the top of the succulent. Once you’re done, put the finished succulent on the terra cotta pot, and secure the bottom with hot glue. For the dirt part, cut some brown felt and just kind of style it around the bottom part of the succulent. Finish it off by adding the pins.
