I was on a long walk on a brisk Autumn day, thinking of how I should decorate my house for Autumn and for the up and coming Thanksgiving holiday. I remembered this ingenious DIY lantern idea involving twigs. My Fall decorating could have never been easier, I gathered twigs and rushed home. I had some really plain glass candle holders, so I got out my trusty glue gun and went to town. I was shocked at how amazing they looked, my husband came home and thought I had been at Pottery Barn again. Quite a compliment, this craft project is a must for Fall.
Balls of festive light this Fall holiday season is all the rage. I wanted something durable for my back patio that could easily transition into Christmas decor in December. This idea seemed to fill all needs and I thought it would look lovely in Spring and Summer as well. I used a really strong hemp twine to withstand the elements and some Elmer’s Glue and cornstarch for stiffening and wrapped the light strings inside and out. Two of my friends have used the idea for their porches. I think I’ve started a trend.
I fell into DIY shabby chic heaven when I saw this faux distressed galvanized bucket. I really wanted something old world and authentic for my Autumn porch display. The formula was so easy to follow and my guests cannot stop talking about the old school prices I painted on with my awesome stencils. Things are a bit more expensive now but these old prices get the conversation going and keep it going for hours.
For your babies out there who love candy corn, here is some fun candy corn wall art. Though candy corn only comes around in Autumn for our Halloween and Thanksgiving joy, you can now have your candy corn all year round. Buttons, burlap, Elmer’s and Modpodge is all you need. This is a great project for the young and the young at heart.
I saw these square pumpkins and they spoke to my inner Picasso. Who says pumpkins have to be round? Not only are they cutting edge with this brave geometric design, but they were also super cheap to make. total cost was about two dollars each. You just need your wood, paint, and stencils and this masterpiece will be sitting among your gorgeous Fall display looking fabulous. This cool craft idea is cheap and easy, but super cute. (Pro tip: You can even make and sell these cute polka dot pumpkins on Etsy!) Rustic, farmhouse decor is super popular right now, and these adorable pumpkins fit perfectly with that look.
