I saw this pattern and it immediately caught my attention. It’s really beautiful, don’t you think? Just imagine using yellow and black fabrics – it totally looks like the stars in the night sky. You might think it’s a hard pattern, but believe it or not, this basic x-block ruler quilt by Missouri Star is actually one of the easiest projects you can make at home. If you want to make a quick and impressive quilt top, this is the one to go for.

I thought it was going to take me several hours to finish this quilt, but I was wrong. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. It only took me a couple of hours to finish the quilt top! It’s not as hard as it looks, I promise. Even beginners won’t have a hard time following the steps. People will think you’ve spent a lot of time making this project.

Take two strips of color and one 2 1/2″ background strip. Place the background in the middle, then sew them together to make a 3-unit strip with a quarter-inch seam allowance.
Get the ruler and place on top of your unit. Align the lines on your ruler just like in the photo below. Cut it out. Repeat with the remaining strip. You should have 7 blocks.
Take four of the squares and arrange them just like in the photo below.
Sew them in pairs, then sew them together to make the block. Make sure to nest the seams. Press it open.
You have a 4 blocks by 5 blocks in the center.
You will have three leftover blocks for each strip set. Sew them in pairs to make star halves. Use them as borders to make another stars.
