This ooey gooey butter cake recipe by Pure Food on YouTube shows how to make a simple southern dessert. I love gooey butter cake, but I’ve never tried to make it myself. I didn’t realize how easy it is to make with simple ingredients. The prep time for this cake is about 15 minutes and overall it takes about 1 hour. This would be a great cake for those that love sweet desserts. Plus, I like how it uses a boxed cake mix which makes the recipe even easier. I can only imagine how the cake would taste because it looks super moist. It’s one of my favorite southern desserts and this recipe calls for shortcuts.

Ingredients:

Cake:

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Filling:

  • 1 package cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar

Directions:

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, vanilla extract, and the melted butter. Mix everything together with a fork until fully combined.
