Almost everyone I know loves berries. They are sweet and have this unique taste that you can’t find from other fruits. They are perfect for smoothies, tarts, cobblers, or pies. They also make great toppings for ice creams, pancakes, crepes, cakes, or oatmeal. Berries can be enjoyed year-round, but they are so much better when they are in season.

The only problem with berries is that they get moldy fast since they have high water content. If you place them in the refrigerator in the same packaging from the stores, after a few days, you will notice that they already turned bad. Learn how to keep berries fresh and mold-free with Live Simply‘s tutorial.
Wash the strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries in advance. Raspberries are too delicate to be washed in advance–do not wash them.
Make the vinegar bath. Use a salad spinner to wash your berries. In your salad spinner, combine 3 cups of water with a quarter cup of white vinegar. Add the berries to the vinegar bath. Let them sit for about 5 to 10 minutes.
After 5 to 10 minutes, pour the water out and rinse the berries off. Bring them back to the counter. Lay out a towel on your counter, then place the berries. Spread them and let them air dry for an hour or two.
Take a clean, dry glass container with a lid. Line the bottom with a paper towel, then add the berries. The paper towel will absorb the moisture after a few days. Place the lid. If you find your paper towel damp, take the berries out, line again with fresh paper towels, then bring the berries back. You can cut the greens of strawberries so they are prepared once ready to use but do not cut them in chunks.
