Don’t let your stale bread go to waste. It is perfect for making this bread pudding with nutmeg recipe! Candy the glam cook‘s version is definitely one of my favorite desserts. It turned out so creamy and delicious and was an instant hit at home. Everyone could not believe it was the day-old bread we had on our counter. I bet you’ll agree it’s the best bread pudding you have ever had once you try it.

This bread pudding only requires simple ingredients – evaporated milk, whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, butter, and stale bread. I think it’s better than other recipes because it uses three different kinds of milk, which makes the pudding extra creamy. The vanilla sauce is also really good, so don’t skip it.

For the vanilla sauce:
Start by slicing the bread into small pieces. Set aside.
Add the eggs in a large bowl and whisk well. Add the vanilla extract, butter, evaporated milk, condensed milk, heavy whipping cream, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Whisk until well combined.
Add the bread to the pudding and soak for 15 minutes. Make sure everything is submerged.
After 15 minutes, transfer half of the mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the raisins on top. Add the remaining bread mixture, then sprinkle the remaining raisins.
Place inside a 350F oven for an hour. To check if it’s done, insert a skewer in the middle. If it comes out clean, your bread pudding is ready.
Make the vanilla sauce. Add the butter into a saucepan over heat. Once melted, add the heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and custard powder. Mix until well combined. Keep the heat to low. Keep on stirring until it thickens. Turn off the heat.
Drizzle the vanilla sauce on top while it’s hot. Let it cool down for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
