I’ve always wanted to have a free little library at home because I love its concept and I think it’s a great way to connect or share wonderful stories and knowledge with your neighbors. The purpose of these little libraries is to store various books that are free for anyone to pick up and borrow for reading, and they can also put in books that they want others to read.

This will surely create a positive impact in your neighborhood, plus it makes a great outdoor decor for your house, too. Learn how to build your own free little library now with the help of this video tutorial by At Home with Ashley on YouTube. I hope you enjoy making this DIY project idea as much as I did!
Step 1
Start by cutting the plywood sheet into smaller pieces as indicated in the plan, then make the base of the library, and proceed to build the walls around the base. Install the plexiglass for the front of the house, then start working on the roof, and add the shelf inside the library.
Step 2
Next, create the door, then create the whole piece before attaching it to the plexiglass, and make sure to caulk every seam. Sand every surface as smoothly as possible, then finish painting any unpainted areas, and once dry, finish sealing the library with your clear top coat.
Step 3
Screw on two hinges onto the door, then attach the two pieces of plywood to the top to create a roof, and attach the pulls to the door of the library before installing the hinges to the front of the library. Add the magnet to the inside of the door to make sure it’s secured in place. Install the free little library and fill it with books.
