This pro hack can also remove any odor that has clung to the fabric and it uses a common household product that you probably always have available in your house, and that’s vinegar and Dawn dish soap! This makes the clothes incredibly clean, the texture so soft, and removes stains like magic. Learn how now with this video tutorial by Homemaking with Denise on YouTube.
Step 1
Create a stain-cleaning solution by mixing together equal parts of vinegar, Dawn dish soap, and water. Pour it directly into the stained area, then give it a good scrub, and try to get the solution into the fibers as much as you can. Next, grab a bucket if you’re working on 1-2 items, but for larger batches, you can use your bathtub or washing machine.
Step 2
Fill the bucket with vinegar, water, and dish soap, then let it soak for about 2 to 3 hours or overnight depending on how heavily soiled the clothes are. Run them in the wash cycle with no detergent at all, instead replace it with 1 cup of vinegar, then put it in the detergent bin, and wash them in the cycle you usually would.
Step 3
Now, wash them a second time but with detergent, then put ½ cup of vinegar in the fabric softener bin, and wash them in a heavy-duty cycle with cool water. The vinegar will help soften the fabric and remove odor. Once done washing the clothes, put them in the dryer, then dry them like you normally would, and fold the clothes neatly.
