Crumble Shuffle Quilt Pattern Tutorial

If you have lots of scrap fabrics and are looking for a project to use them, try making this crumble shuffle quilt pattern from Moonkin Stitchery on YouTube. This quilt only needs some scrap strips of fabrics and scrap background fabrics for accent. It’s one of my favorite patterns, especially if I have lots of small scraps I need to get rid of.

Materials:

• fabric strips
• accent fabric
• rotary cutter
• cutting mat
• quilting rulers
• sewing machine

Directions:

Step 1

To start, cut your fabric strips into 1 1/2″ x 3″ long. Next, cut 6 1/2″ squares for accent fabric. Sew the crumble strips into one straight line. If one side is already straight, take your 6 1/2″ square and sew it to one of the sides with a 1/4″ seam allowance. If you have a side that isn’t straight, line it up before you sew it to the 6 1/2″ square. Now, after it is sewn together, take your ruler and trim the excess, then like a log cabin block, sew the same crumble strip as long as it is long enough.

Step 2

Once done, square the block up to an 8 1/2″ square. With the remaining strip, you can undo the seam and then keep adding onto your crumb strips. Repeat these steps until you’ve made enough quilt blocks. Once you have enough blocks, lay them and rotate each block 90 degrees. Then, sew your blocks together to form rows, and then sew those rows together to complete the quilt top.
