To make the wedge star, you will need layer cakes or 10″ squares and a wedge ruler. The wedge ruler will make the process so much easier, so it is important that you have one when you try this pattern. I absolutely love the contrast of the colors, and the sashing definitely makes each star block shine. The instructions are easy to follow and very clear. You’ll surely enjoy making this quilt design.

Get two solid squares and place them right sides together. Sew a 1/4″ all the way around the outside edge.
Cut it diagonally from corner to corner on both directions. Press them open in the same direction. Set them aside. Stack them, making sure they are going in the same direction.
Make the wedge. Stack 4 pieces of background squares and place the ruler just like in the photo below and cut. Reposition the ruler to the other side of the square and cut.
Fold the wedges in half lengthwise and press with an iron.
Take a wedge and place on the edge of a half-square triangle just like in the photo below. Sew right on the folded line. Fold the triangle back and trim off the excess piece. Open up the edge and trim 1/4″ away from the stitch line.
Repeat steps 1 to 5 for the remaining squares.
Get 4 blocks and arrange like a four patch with the background meeting in the middle. Sew them together. Repeat with the remaining squares.
Add an 1 1/2″ sashing in between each block and a 4″ wide border.
