Materials:
for a lap size:
- 21 fat quarters
- 1 1/3 yards accent fabric
- 3/4 yard binding
- 4 3/4 yards backing

Cutting:
cut twenty 18″ x 20″ rectangles into:
- 2 – 8″ squares – 40 total (fabric A)
- 10 – 3″ squares – 200 total (fabric B)
cut accent fabric into:
- 160 – 3″ squares (fabric C)
cut binding fabric into:
- 8 – 2 1/2″ x WOF strips (fabric D)
Directions:
Step 1
First, make a nine-patch by alternating fabric B and fabric C. Sew them into rows, press toward the darker print, and then sew those rows together. Press afterward. Make 40 of this nine-patch in total.

Step 2
Now, lay two nine-patch with two fabric A squares. Sew them together and press them open. Make 20 of this block in total. Once you have all the blocks, lay them out four across, then five down, to create the lap quilt top.
