Take out the air filter from your air conditioner and clean it with warm soapy water.
Remove the screws on the side and lift the front end out.
You can see the dust and grime built up. If your coils have dirt and grime collected on them, the efficiency of your system falls down by 5 percent. Pull your temperature gauge and get it out of the way.
Spray the coils with foaming cleaner. Use a rag to catch any dripping. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
Fill the spray bottle with warm water and rinse the coils. The directions claim that you don’t need to rinse it out but this can help to remove some of the dirt. You don’t need to worry about anything just stay away from the electrical part of your AC.
Place back the temperature sensor by sliding it in between the coils and snapping it into the bigger copper plumbing pipes.
Next, clean the outside coils. Give the foaming cleaner a shake and spray it onto the outside coils. Wait for about 10 minutes.
Rinse it with water to remove the dust and grime. Don’t get too wild with water. Filling the drainage tray too much will cause it to flow inside.
Put your cover back on by lining up the holes to the plastic tabs. Let it dry completely. Do not run your unit until it is fully drained.
